NYC subway art

Graffiti writing emerged as a major part of New York City in the the late 1960s and exploded during the 1970s. young writers began marking their names and street numbers throughout the city.

The subway system transformed the scene. Trains traveled across the area, turning a writer's name into a moving message that could be seen miles from were it was painted.
